Get equipped in natural farming, construction basics, aquaponics, water and sanitation technologies, permaculture design, renewable energy, and biblical-based community development principles. Get hands-on experience within YWAM Kona’s Natural Farm Training Center and Appropriate Technology Village.

These seminars are open to the public. No prior YWAM participation required.

Housing is limited for seminar participants, it will be on a space-available basis. Those attending full-time courses take priority.

Course Outline

What is God’s heart for helping people obtain access to healthy living conditions?

How can we grow healthy and nutritious food — naturally, sustainably, and for low cost?

How do you plan a construction project, then build it from the ground up?

How can we grow protein in small spaces, and preserve food for lean times?

What can communities do to gain access to safe and abundant water?

What is energy poverty, and how can we help people to “live in the light”?

How can simple technologies help reduce household disease issues and increase overall community health?

How can we partner with communities to empower people to see God’s glory?

What are simple and effective training strategies for equipping individuals and communities in Sustainable Technologies?

What principles can we learn from Nehemiah as a leader and a community transformer?

Successful completion of a Discipleship Training School (including outreach) is required to attend this course.


  After our FEWS School, there are great opportunities for you to continue growing and sharing your skills: Participate in the FEWS Practicum, a quarter-long practical internship through our Life Empowering Technology and Science Department. Get additional hands-on experience with the FEWS topics — through an outreach opportunity with our YWAM Partners in the developing world! Sustainable Technology Degree Track Join us for the Sustainable Technology Degree Track and obtain academic credits toward fulfilling University of the Nations degree requirements. Even if you’re not pursuing a degree program through the UofN, you may still participate in Food, Energy, Water and Shelter School (FEWS). Join us for the Quarter — get changed for a lifetime!
